When I did an update on software on my ubuntu, and then tried to bring up Proton.me in Firefox, it stated it was not compatable and I needed to update Firefox. Can't seem to update Firefox.

Latest version of Firefox is 153.00

came as an update on Linux Mint, yesterday 25th July

Probably not helpful but related: I use the Proton client rather than a browser. It helps keep problems isolated.

Explain pls
We are talking about Proton email service, right? They provide client software for accessing email/calendar/other features that is a stand along program, no web browser needed. You can find it on their Downloads page.

@securitydog77, there are suggestions in this post up above, posted by @The Duck, which you may have missed. Well worth running.

What I'm asking is, where/how did you initially install Firefox? From the Ubuntu repos, or somewhere else?

Look at post #6 here, from The Duck. Have you tried his suggestions?
I believe it was with the Ubuntu distro. Do not remember downloading it. Still learning to download stuff.

Most likely running Firefox Snap package.

Open terminal and copy and paste one at a time press enter and then enter password when asked.

Code:
sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade

Code:
sudo snap refresh
Did as recommended.
Rebooted, still shows Firefox as 130.

Not too familiar with snaps but you can share the output of the following?
Code:
snap list | grep firefox

securitydog77@HP-Laptop:~$ snap list | grep firefox
firefox 130.0-2 4848 latest/stable/… mozilla** -
securitydog77@HP-Laptop:~$
It does look like it's on version 130, while 153 is the latest.

What's the output of the following?
Code:
snap refresh --list

I can't remember what the last one does but I think it refreshes your snaps to the newest version available once you have run system updates. Can you share the output of the previously shared commands by @The Duck?
