Or you can open up the terminal and type chromium and hit enter.

I downloaded the file and opened and it asked what to open with; I chose .Deb it started and there was some error message flagged in red saying systmd is not enabled.........host down. Was there a different option I should have opened?
I rebooted the system and went to Pictures and lo and behold was able to print. I want to sincerely thank all of for "hanging in there" with this noob. You all have demonstrated the "Patience of Job".:) I still have a lot to learn.

No that is the correct file. You want .deb because your using a Debian based distro.

Right click on the file and it will bring up the popup window below. Click open with deb installer.

However now that I think about it you may not be using systemd:

MX offers the option of using systemd and sysvinit. If your using MX 23 you can switch to systemd easily but starting with MX 25 you have to make the choice prior to installation and its permanent. Which version of MX are you using? You can pull up your system information here:

Your using SysVinit. Some programs can't run under that and will need systemd. Thankfully you are using MX 23 so it can be easily switched.

I'm using MX 25 so I can't provide any screenshots or look which tool has it but one of them allows you to easily switch to systemd. I think its MX boot options under MX tools. Set it to systemd and then restart. I also think you are given the choice between the two at the GRUB screen. Choosing from the GRUB screen will temporarily change it until you restart the computer again whereas the tool does a permanent change until you want to change it again.

I downloaded the file and opened and it asked what to open with; I chose .Deb it started and there was some error message flagged in red saying systmd is not enabled.........host down. Was there a different option I should have opened?

Just saw your revised post. So its working now? Still you should use systemd to avoid any issues in the future.

Well the printer seems to be working.....that was my priority. I looked under MX Tools and Boot Options but I didn't see any option for changing systemd. I'll reboot and look for it.
Would you choose to use systemd permanently? It seems I had that option on booting into MX before I inadvertantly uninstalled Grub.

FYI:

Do a Timeshift back up before doing anything to be safe. Although its relatively safe and easy to do.

Either one is fine but occasionally you will run into a program you may want to install and it will need systemd to run. You can change it later when you get some time.

Okay ran Timeshift. Rebooted and saw the Advanced Options Screen. Chose it and it showed MX Libretto 23.6 amd64 systemd. I chose it and it booted. All good! Do I have to do this at every startup?

I think so. You can change it in MX boot options. I don't have the option to change between both since I'm on MX 25 and because of changes in Debian 13 they had to remove it. MX 23 is using Debian 12 so you will see the same options you saw on your GRUB menu there under MX boot options. See below.

There is a checkbox in the screenshot above "Enable saving last boot choice" that might be what you are looking for. Anyway this will be my last post for a while. Be back in a few weeks/months or so. If you need further assistance check with wizardfromoz he is a MX wiz (no pun intended).

Okay, I really do appreciate all of the help and thank you so much!!
