repeat the process and when you get to the desktop and open terminal

sudo update-grub

followed by

sudo grub-install /dev/sda

and reboot

repeat the process at terminal when you get in reverse the two commands so it is

sudo grub-install /dev/sda

followed by

sudo update grub

and reboot

if you have a spare usb stick, go into kali, disable the screensavers and powersavers under settings manager, download and burn an iso for another distro you fancy, make sure it is a live version, NOT an installer

That's what I would do.

You can also give 'Parrot Linux' a spin.
It's pretty much the same distro as Kali Linux and you can learn how to do penetration testing and forensics too.

Here's what I do-

When I find that the path I choose is continually blocked, I try another path.
Maybe Parrot Linux which is supposed to have more tools than Kali Linux might be a more logical choice / path.

Just a suggestion.
