Solved needing help/advice picking a distro. (TLDR: I picked CachyOS)

Solved issue
I like Cachy, it is quite quick.

BTW its download uses SHA256, which was implemented by Linux Mint after their trouble, and became an industry standard.

The hostile agent compromise only altered the download link, to provide a backdoored version, and did not compromise the original iso, It was all fixed in less than 24 hours (20 February 2016 IIRC, LM 17.3 Cinnamon), the Bulgarian server was identified, and so on, so you have nothing to be concerned with with modern Mint.

thanks Wizard for the detailed info! I find linux mint to be the best option when helping others who want to try linux for the first time. thanks for helping restore my confidence in the project.

I am very very happy with cachyos, someday when I am an "advanced" user i may try void or raw arch, but for the foreseeable future im very happy with cachy!
