Need suggestion

Hello everyone, I want to switch completely from Windows to Linux for DS/AI/ML based work. I had a sweet-bitter experience using ubuntu in dual boot (works smoothly, but upgrades do not). Would you like to suggest a better distro where I can do my works smoothly, reliably? If you want to suggest Ubuntu again, then how can I find the stable one?

I've been using ubuntu LTS 24.02 for a while. still facing issues for upgrading/installing random software. And also, my wifi adapter (2.4Ghz) isn't supported there. Watched numerous tutorials, took help from AI assistants, and am still working through a USB tethered connection(though I don't have the option for an Ethernet connection) using my phone. This is damaging my phone's battery.

Debian is known to be the most stable Linux but at the expense of shipping with packages that are few versions behind.
Outdated packages (or stable ones) is what contributes to stability and smooth operation.

for DS/AI/ML based work

For development you'll likely use upstream libraries so Debian's package repository shouldn't affect your work.

Also Debian has the biggest package repository out there, with plenty of development libraries that otherwise you need to compile yourself on other distros.

If you share more details about what libraries you'll be using then more info can be added.

do you know which chip set it has? if not, run from terminal inxi -N and either paste back results or give us the chip set
