Yes my friends its me,
I need some assistance,
I have installed a VM on my laptop just for 1 job and hit a problem, Installed using BOXES was no problem, I set the USB parameters and a few other bits, it started with a 34 GB Virtual drive which I increased to 95GB all fine, but the app I installed it to run will not download [error download folder not big enough] Now I have been searching and found nothing on how to expand the download folder, Any good ideas greatfully accepted

I have no idea how to fix it what's the problem but:
Unlike virt-viewer and remote-viewer, Boxes allows viewing guest virtual machines, but also creating and configuring them, similar to virt-manager. However, in comparison with virt-manager, Boxes offers fewer management options and features, but is easier to use.

... is so discouraging, is there any reason you had to go for boxes?

If you did that on a virtual disk that already had system installed on it, it's questionable whether guest system utilized new space.
Increasing disk size normally only adds new unallocated (unformatted) space to virtual disk.

But 34GB virtual disk is already big enough so I'm totally clueless.
It should be problem only if the program you attempt to download is more 15 GB or so.

That is not the problem, it's the capacity of the download folder [ it needs to be big enough to download a full set of EU maps to update my Hyundai] so i need to make it bigger but i cannot find the tools to do it

Wait...

Did you just increase the 'size' of the storage and then not actually go use a tool like GParted to expand the actual partition?

No i used the tools to make a bigger virtual drive [its not real so no need for gparted, but what i need to do is increase the size of the download folder and i can't find how [if its possible to do it] image is the control. the folder is currently about 2gb but needs to be 6.5 minimum

Yeah, you made the virtual drive bigger. Now you need to tell the virtual drive to grow the partition. You can do that like you'd normally do it. Boot the VM but override the regular boot process to boot a live .iso image. While you're in there, use GParted (or your favorite disk imaging too, like Disks) to make the partition take up the entirey of the space you allocated in the previous step.

Thanks for your help. And, yeah, take your time. You've only allocated space to the VM. You haven't adjusted the partition size to use that space. It's easily done. Just boot to a live instance of any major distro and it'll already have Gnome Disks or GParted already installed.
