Multiple DEs on one install~ Plasma-Gnome(Zorin's version hopefully)-Unity? ~Sddm Desktop switching not appearing.

Unless you find a major difference between "extensions" and "plugins" (I don't), then KDE certainly does have Extensions.

The following
Plugin and extension is same but KDE plugins is not the same thing as gnome extensions.

99% of users will not need or use them in KDE, but gnome is hard to use without extensions, gnome extensions have much greater impact on users than kde extensions.

Also didn't check but KDE plugins are likely maintained by kde devs, so it's unlikely they would break something.

They used to have a facility whereby you could, when configuring Dolphin, access community-based plugins which were reviewed and awarded stars. Included ones for opening Dolphin as Root.

They do not seem to be maintaining that any more.

The Dolphin as Root capability is mostly covered currently with a package kio-admin.

Cheers

I am using VBox on Linux. I have just decided W11 was not working for me- and I got plasma to a point of liking..
Still keep older versions of windows around for UI-reasons ( I still like Win8 and Vista's UI). I have installed through KDE's store. (Tried APT through Terminal-did not like that!)

I'm running a different distro (Arch) but using KDE - I use KDE's "discover" package manager in addition to pacman (via the terminal), yay (also via the terminal), and I also use flatpak as well as an occasional appimage. it all depends on the distro you're using and the apps you want to run.

the terminal is a very useful tool - dont shy away from it too much. if you have to, spin up a vm and play around in the terminal there since it doesnt matter if you trash a vm instance.

Will Do!

Hi all!

I am extremely interested on getting multiple DEs installed on my Kubuntu Installation. I only have a 256GB SSD on my Surface, so I would just like to see if I can get these all installed- and all partitioned. ( I have installed Unity with enough bugs for a day ) And it seems to blend the plasma-style with Unity(Also Buggy).

As I have limited onboard storage- I would like to install these DEs for experimenting without overfilling my system with distros. Is it also possible to separate all of these- like not having elements of plasma bleeding into Gnome- or Unity into plasma?

As for SDDM-Tab twice and space just blanks out screen.
Sorry if this is a boatload!

~Here are specs if needed
11th Gen Intel Core I7 G6~16GB Ram~256GBssd (Don't want to overfill with distros.).

Also Any tips for good backup/restore software?

Thank you all here!
I have never attempted to use multiple DE, themes yes. I have multiboot options on most of my PC. I foresee an awful mess.

And you were right! Gnome was alright (Shockingly) but Unity... welp. You all can guess.
