RIP 32 bit general computing

I think they were hanging on for long, given how far the trend among distros is. And a deadline notice of a year is a fair move - enough for 32bit distros to figure out alternative default browsers.

Also, the webcontent gets more complex to process all the time in general, i.e. the computing bar for regular websites raises and it is not their doing. We keep an old PC running 32bit (4MB) around and firefox browsing still works ok with it, it probably beats a rasp pi4 arm 64bit even. :)

I've probably said this before, and I'll say it again. I run a couple of 32-bit Puppies, more for nostalgic reasons than owt else.....alongside a whole fleet of 64-bit Puppies. But even those two 32-bit Pups can run current, up-to-date 64-bit browsers.....so I'm 'laid-back' about the whole issue.

It doesn't really bother me. At all.

Not fussed.

(shrug...)

Mike. :P

32 bit is pretty much just 'retro computing' as a hobby type of thing these days. We've long since said goodbye to 8 and 16 bit devices (outside of the hobbyists). Fortunately, 64 bit should be fine for quite a long time.
