been at it a week everywhere.
how can I change the resresh rate about 60MH.
desktop preferences is greyed out.
command line didnt do it.
not a programmers, please keep it simple. was hoping a GUI would make life easier.
its blocky on a slow screen scroll.
tried loads everywhere.

Just to be clear, do you mean Ubuntu, Lubuntu, or something else?

I would start with this article:

If that doesn't work, someone here may help you dig deeper. They'll want things like your GPU information and maybe to run an application known as 'inxi'. So, be prepared for that.

so all the drivers are up to date now thanks. desktop preferences still doesnt open.
not checked my facebook scrolling.

Alright...

At this point, I'm trying to get some information that may help others to help you. I'm unsure of what to do with your problem, as I've never seen it and can't recreate it. (Some searching says maybe installing some Gnome extensions may help, but I'm not sure if that's what works.)

In the terminal, please execute the following commands:

sudo apt install inxi

Then run the following command:

inxi -G

Then paste the output of that, preferably within the code formatting tags.

tom@tom-OptiPlex-3080:~$ inxi -G

actually! someone suggested using chrome. IT MIGHT have worked around the problem and it could be a firefox setting.

If this only happens when the browser is open (otherwise it's not a browser issue) you can try disabling hardware acceleration - which is more effective in Chromium/Chrome browsers than Firefox/related browsers - but is still worth a shot.

But, if this happens despite a browser being open, changing the browser isn't going to resolve the issue.

it kinda does. its a firefox issue since lubuntu. no issues on ubuntu.
its something on firefox.
chrome seems fine.

I have insane all week!
  1. Adjust smooth scrolling settings: Firefox has a smooth scrolling feature that can sometimes cause performance problems on certain systems. You can try disabling it to see if it improves scrolling. Go to the Firefox menu > Preferences > General, scroll down to the Browsing section, and uncheck the "Use smooth scrolling" option.

Actually disabling the scrolling solved it thanks.
I am hopeless sorry and have loads more issues. but am tired and its late.
Thank you for your help.
