I'm looking for remapping software that can work for Zorin 18 so I can get all of the shortcuts I use down to a single key.

Regarding such software, does it only work with keyboards noted as being a "macro," "programmable," or "mechanical," keyboard, or can the right software effectively turn something as simple as a second numbered or mini keyboard into a macro keypad?

The term is called "keybinding" in Linux and there are utilities to theoretically map any key to whatever character/macro/action you choose. It is advanced to master though, you should start with the options the desktop environment Zorin uses offers. It will have options for it, have a look for "keyboard shortcuts" in settings, e.g. the regular Gnome lets you define yours there and makes it easy.

I'm not going to try doing anything too crazy. I'll start with something like the 3 I use most, add 3 more after a while, and so forth.

I did alot of this years ago on a keyboard I clearly paid too much for at thr time, so I have some idea anyway. Lol

As an aside, when people ask me what software would benefit Linux the most, my answer is always the same.

The answer is a solid GUI keyboard remapping tool.

I have been asked that question at least a dozen times. I've given that answer every time. I've also mentioned it elsewhere.

So far, I've yet to find a solid GUI keyboard remapping tool.
