Hi

I'm Fymgee, it's nice to meet y'all

I'm a tech enthusiast (or at least I think I'm one)

I've been using linux for a couple of times now (I'm currently in the windows then linux... linux then windows addicting migration just for fun)

I think... I don't care If I kill my SSD for hard reseting my laptop so much when installing and deleting one OS and then the other

It's kinda a new hobbie of mine at this point

I install windows, I install the games (that only work on them alongside the ones that are multiplatform) and I also install another programs like fl studio, paint tool sai, etc...

then When I'm bored, I install Linux again (which by the way it's debian gnu/linux) and I do the same thing except that I can't install the same programs that are windows only (I know there are ways of doing it but I rather stick to the purist way of doing it = native os for software optimized of just targeted towards that os and not emulate not use wine or anything similar nuh-uh)

I like computers tough...

I have heard or read about linux before and for a long time but I underestimated the software since I saw that the things I wanted to play or use where still not compatible on linux and it scared me the terminal-coding-server-hacker kinda vibe linux has (tough I never thought I could use linux like any regular pc just for causal web browsing, play some games and even use office like programs for work or just personal life)

It was not until the pandemic came that I was more interested in coding and stuff and watched an old course of joseph delgadillo showing how to use linux when I started to like it (the reality of doing whatever I wanted with my computer was something very attractive to me and I started giving baby steps since then)

to sum it all up:

I like to play videogames (mostly sonic and mario, etc)

I like to listen to music (especially EDM, videogames soundtracks, etc)

I like to read (though I don't usually do it)

etc

Thank you for having me!

I wish to learn more about computing in general so I can help others when they need it and also to stop being an ignorant about this field.

Welcome to the forums!

Current state of Linux is such that there is probably less than 3% of software or games that doesn't run on Linux or software for which there is no alternative.

This 3% belong to wine and proton that should handle it for Windows only software like games or Windows only programs.
Don't be misguided by wine and proton, they run Windows software as fast as native and in some cases results are better performance, mostly true for gaming.

wine is not emulator it's compatibility layer:

This means very little overhead and similar performance.

But the best thing is, you own your computer and OS.

Welcome @Fymgee

There are a few gamers here where you can share screenshots.

Do you play those games on Linux with an emulator or do you run them on a Nintento Switch?

There's a music thread here where you can share music.
