Hi! I'm usually jansi but that's taken, so jonsi it is.

I've always been interested in Linux but it's been too intimidating to get into. I got a Steam Deck a year or so ago and that kinda allowed me to dip my toes into what it could be like without having to learn a whole lot. I've swapped my PC over from Windows to Arch Linux about a week ago, and while it's sometimes a head-bashing learning curve, it's fun to be more technical with my hobby pc.

Anyway, I'm from Maine and work in SaaS as a solution engineer, am very verbose as you can tell, and love to game. Primarily playing WoW, but have an obnoxious amount of games, and Rimworld is one of my favorites. Also, music music music (metal, drum and bass, and triphop primarily). Does anyone know about tshirtslayer? (: Send me your profile if you do.

Looking forward to not knowing what to contribute to these discussions!! Tc!

Very good, and welcome! Although I've been using Linux for most of 3 decades, I eventually plan on installing Arch just to have a little variety. It's a very good distro, as is Debian which I use.

Welcome aboard!... but oh my OMG! The ones from Maine are gonna be overrunning the ones from Australia. :D

Ah, yes. Yet another "Maniac" joins the herd. Welcome mate. There is a growing group of us here.;)

Happy Trails,
Paul
Haha, I saw kc1di in some other posts proudly advertising it in his signature so I added it to my intro! Interesting to know there are more of us! Thank you!

I DID notice a disproportionate amount of Australians here! I actually have family that lives there but I've never visited, though I want to.

It's very user-friendly thus far. I had a laptop with CachyOS but it was a laptop so I found it too tedious to setup. This computer has something called Garuda Dr460nized - I don't know anything about it other than it's extremely gaudy until you personalize it and seems to come with just what I need to game without most of the hassles!
Maine, eh? Some friends we know just moved to Corrina. And one of the admins lives near Rangely. Seems to be a great place to live. :)
We moved to Portland in Nov. 2023 and are going to be buying a house in the surrounding area sometime around November this year. I love it here. Ocean, mountains, Boston all within reach. I've not been to Corrina but LOVE Rangely - going up there in August to camp! Excellent motorcycling country.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!

Considering our population, we have a large representation on this site.

Excellent motorcycling country.

I go for a drive/ride pretty much every morning. (I own multiple vehicles.)

That's awesome. What do you ride and for how long? I have a Kawasaki Eliminator, only 600 miles on it - definitely still learning.

Thanks Caffeine!

That's not verbose...welcome!

I was really trying haha. Thank you!
My pleasure. I once heard a legend about a statue of a Confederate soldier somewhere in downtown Augusta, Maine. It got mixed up with one for Augusta, Georgia. Supposedly nobody noticed until after they had both been installed and they decided to leave them that way. For some strange reason I just remembered that, probably a campfire story.
