Hi,
I have just installed new drives into my pc... and am going to use a 1tb nvme m.2 drive for linux mint. I have set up the windows on the other ssd, I am wanting to dual boot.
The other drive is detected but not showing up in "This PC" as it is unallocated space. Do I need to allocate this space in windows before proceeding with Linux Mint install. or can it allocate the drive when I install linux?

Thanks

It's formatted during the Linux installation process.

Edit: Well, assuming you tell it to do so and follow the directions well enough.

Hi,
Thanks for that, yea im still pretty new at this but just needed to clarify

You don't need to do anything in Windows in preparation to install Linux. However, once you've installed Linux, you may not be able to access EXT3/4 formatted partitions from Windows without special drivers. I believe, however, that Linux is capable of accessing NTFS drives natively. You need to include that in your planning.
