Hi all! I am new to linux but have been completely sold on it (despite it being free). I have thoroughly enjoyed the freedom and flexibility this OS offers me. I primarily use my pc for gaming, and am getting further interested in using it for more personal use so I'm looking for suggestions on how to decouple myself from the apple ecosystem.

CachyOS is my distro of choice (right now) and my first distro was bazzite. Both gaming forward, but after installing Arch and using it, I really enjoyed it.

I would love to know more about the different desktop environments and window managers y'all use as well. My curiosity has led me to hyprland a few times and I do have a disk with omarchy installed in my pc.

I have a 10 year old Macbook Pro that I installed ubuntu on for my daughters first computer and we plan on setting up a minecraft server on our home network. Along with some other games.

I have already received a warm welcome over in another thread here, and I'm happy to be here with the penguins. Thanks all!

I've already said welcome, but I'll give you another for free. ;)

Said hello in the other thread but Welcome again.
Enjoy!
Once you learn Linux you will never go back. All things can be sort of replicated you can do in Windows. After a while you will not miss it at all.

I use KDE because it's very configurable and I there are no UI or interface restrictions that would make it bad, this is the only plus I care about because I don't like limitation or needing to learn how to use a desktop, it all familiar and ti works OK.
