G'day Nick, Welcome to Linux.org

That bloke just above, is me mate!.... That's two from Australia.

Welcome to the happy place !

makes a change to welcome a Canuck from the great white north, [instead of all these antipodeans we seem to find.]

^^^ ...dream on, Brian.

And here is a third from Aussieland. Great people here who help big time with any issues anyone has. Welcome to you.

Welcome aboard, Nick. Don't worry - there are some normal folks here, too... somewhere... I think. ;)

Welcome to the forums!

Maybe better question is, how did you survive for so long with Linux but not joining this community?

I normally join social boards of whatever I'm into at a moment.
I've been a member of the Ubuntu Forums since I started using Ubuntu. I only stumbled upon this site a few days ago. I've been trying different distros one by one on an old spare laptop so I figured joining a more general community would be beneficial.
