Im just extremely anal about uninstalling software

If that's the case, you might want to use purge as in sudo apt purge <software>, to ensure you're also removing config files.

I'd prefer to get rid of the config's as well as I don't want the esr configs generating conflict with the newest version on FF from Mozilla.

Ok, relearned how to create a desktop file so that's done.

The signatures for the sha256sum from Mozilla isn't panning out with what the command-line is returning.

The sha256sum for firefox 139.0.1 for Linux on Mozilla's page leads me to the sha256sum text file. So clicking on the archive of course provides me with the list in the screenshot.....however, like I said the sig's don't match.

I selected the Dir labeled: '139.0.1'
Could it be that I'm mistaken and looking at the wrong sig?

Yes, but the price and class differences also effect "how easy it is" to adopt linux as a hobby, and the availability of funds effects the ability to install linux openly. Unfortunately, the US does set global computing standards.

Removing FF ESR done.
Created a mozilla-firefox.desktop file and made it executable.

Opened the panel and selected to create a Custom Application Launcher and have typed in the exact location to the FF executable file and tried adding it to the panel.
It adds an icon to the panel however, it fails to launch FF.

The only way I'm able to launch FF is to go to the executable file and double click on it.

Any ideas guys?

The FF icon is now in the Mate panel / tray and works.
Editing the path to FF's executable .desktop file helped. I had to change the command for the 'Custom Application Launcher' and point the launcher to the FF executable file.
