this program is a lot of fun! even a torpid fool like me. could spend time checking out music. aside from using an ordinary media player. i have some songs i created over the years. i could also use ancient music tracker modules. but those are difficult to synchronize. even though tracker music demands creation. with events in lines like a spreadsheet. programs for ms-dos like fasttracker ii ("xm" suffix format). programs like protracker for commodore amiga ("mod" suffix format) were unable to compute tempo accurately. were unable to round off to the nearest integer and compensate for fractions less than one. like today's powerhouse daws have to do.
i am ashamed to reveal. i obtained this program at least 20 years ago for the first time. from computer music magazine for windows. i should have looked into it to see what it was. it was a preliminary edition. instead i recklessly ran the program. on a single-core intel celeron laptop with windowsxp sp2. before trying to figure out if i needed to import a music file. or if i needed to have a duplex soundcard, mixer, turntable, effect kit etc. connected to my computer. i tried to quit the program. but it sort of basked. then got the dreaded blue screen from windows. it made me swear i would never again deal with this program.
i'm not sure if this comes with ubuntu studio. but while i used 32-bit "precise pangolin" around 2017. i ignored it.
since i regained internet in 2022. i hesitated to try this program. i wasn't interested in working on music creation to suit it.
i remember i tried to do something similar in brute force. with sonic foundry acid music long ago. select a portion 64 beats or longer, which is a power of 2. or a multiple of 32. load it as a track in that program. then try to match it with another song. in which the same thing is done. but might not be the same tempo. so it has to be time-stretched. it was a time-consuming process. to look for a "downbeat" to begin with. then count 32 beats or more from there. way back then i was also being challenged for disk space. that's why my "mixes" this way couldn't go longer than 10 minutes. had five songs or more blending into each other occasionally.
i won't create an account with github. otherwise i might have to enroll into their forum. to report a bug. but which was probably fixed by the next release. i'm using "Mixxx-2.5.6-1-anylinux-x86_64.AppImage" on a linux operating system. which is based on debian "bookworm". if i create a "crate". then try to export it to playlist in m3u format. after i confirm the save-file requester. the program crashes. instead have to create a directory. then ask it to export the music files themselves to that directory. then load them into a media player like deadbeef. or use "shell script" or whatever to create the m3u. but this topic wasn't created to make a bug report. it was to reveal a bit of what i have been doing with my computer on linux.
