Can zorin OS be used for our server main OS?

Since I am comfortable with Zorin on our computers. Can I set the server we have up using Zorin as it's base OS? It would make it much easier for me since I am familiar with the OS.

i would use Debian stable. but thats just me.

Thanks for the suggestion ///////. ha ha. I am probably just going to use Zorin, if I can. hoping to.

I want to have file storage, connection while on the road, and PiHole set up on the system.

You should be able to set up a server on almost any distro.

Yes, you can. However, Zorin is not server focused, it's mainly a desktop distro, with heavy desktop programs, drivers, and everything else.
For a server, you don't need all that. But I guess that knowledge and experience will come later.

For now on, I'd say you could use Zorin for server tasks, just spin one up and leave it running with power saving (sleep mode) disabled - it will run continuously 24/7 as a server should.

It's probably easier to use Ubuntu server, as ZorinOS is based on Ubuntu and that way you don't have to strip out the DE and all the other desktop specific stuff you don't need when using it a server.

My seems to me obvious question is what server do you have currently?

Other than that, I defer to our other Helpers, I have little to no server experience.
