Is it better to use 2 different applications for backup? For example: Pika for data and Timeshift for system image or just use the best one to do both data and system image, if so what is the better app
Thanks

It's always better to have two backup solutions and to backup everything not just system files...never keep the backups on the same Drive.

I use Foxclone...https://www.foxclone.org/ and Rescuezilla...https://rescuezilla.com/
Both create an image of all used space on the Drive..which is saved to a folder on an External Drive. Both compress the image and have a verify tool.

Should anything happen...the worst being Drive failure...you delete something or you run a command that bricks your system...you just put the image back.

Also use Foxclone. Great disk imaging software. I boot it with Ventoy, all on a USB stick.

I put both backups on the same drive, but also on multiple drives. If one drive dies, I still have both backups. One backup of anything is at least one too few. I prefer separate /home and / backups, but not everyone does. Each method has advantages and disadvantages, but for me having them separate has more advantages and fewer disadvantages. It's a personal choice, though.
