Hot off the press over on my Linux Blog.:)

I don't like any of the dark dim background theme.

I can use the default light theme and just lower the monitor brightness or back light as needed for comfortable viewing.

My eyes have certainly changed as I have aged, but they have not grown fond of dark backgrounds. They never did like dark backgrounds. A good contrast is my 'thing'

Therefore in Linux Mint, I choose the 'Light' appearance, with whatever colour icons/folders etc...currently Mint-L-Teal, same for applications (buttons x etc) a m'soft blue wallpaper over the entire monitor screen, and the panel bar :

Works for my peepers !

Thanks for the feedback. :)

It gives me ideas for future articles, ie} tweaking the icons, desktop wallpapers, themes and other adjustments.

Contrast really does matter so agreed there. Hands down.
Getting your darks dark and the lights light is key:-

Enjoy the summer and Happy 4th of July to all!

auf Wiedersehen

I'm a big fan of dark themes. I use dark themes on everything I possibly can. My eyes are pretty old, having made 80 trips around the sun, and bright white can be painful. There are reasons for having many different themes available, to each his own.

Agreed what may work for one user may not work for another.

I adjust the gamma settings along with contrast and brightness settings on my monitors to enhance my viewing experience.
