I don't like any of the dark dim background theme.

I can use the default light theme and just lower the monitor brightness or back light as needed for comfortable viewing.

My eyes have certainly changed as I have aged, but they have not grown fond of dark backgrounds. They never did like dark backgrounds. A good contrast is my 'thing'

Therefore in Linux Mint, I choose the 'Light' appearance, with whatever colour icons/folders etc...currently Mint-L-Teal, same for applications (buttons x etc) a m'soft blue wallpaper over the entire monitor screen, and the panel bar :

Works for my peepers !
