Hi, i'm Mario. A guy from italy who has been using linux full time on all his devices for a year now. Given my young age of 18 years old I never got to experience forums, so I'm trying to make up for it now.
I always liked technology and computers, so as soon as I discovered Linux aroud when I was 13 or so and got my first laptop I knew right away that I found a true passion wich I hope can become part of my job in the near future.
I hope I can be of help to other new linux user and also hope to get along with you all, have a nice day!

It's quite the opposite, forums are dying out in favor of social media and sites like reddit, discord, github discussions etc.
Yeah that's what I saw lately too, they're getting killed especially by reddit

Welcome to the fourms!

Welcome to the forums,

Welcome aboard.

As other sites get more and more input from AI (intentionally or not), I'd not be surprised to see a resurgence of forums and other smaller sites. I don't have any formal odds, nor even a prediction. I'm simply saying that it would not surprise me. At the same time, there will be many who don't care. Heck, there will be those who celebrate it.

The estimate for the percentage of internet traffic done by bots vs humans is now at 50% (from several sources). This is up from 35% just a couple of years ago. (That's total internet traffic, not just what's seen on websites.)

Dead internet theory was right all along.

Dead internet theory was right all along.

LOL I intentionally avoided that phase. I don't think we're there -- yet.

Right now, AI is easy to spot. We actually have a rule about AI here on the site, and we are (so we think) pretty good at spotting it when someone uses it to write a post. Sure, there could be some slipping through the cracks, but I think we're still humans at this site.

And, even though the traffic is bots, I made it a point to mention that it's not all on websites. A lot of it is bots talking to bots, bots scraping pages for training, bots scraping pages for search results, bots measuring statistics, bots between applications, etc...

I think it's too early to call it right. That doesn't mean it won't happen. It just means that I don't think we're quite at that point.

There are still a bunch of people who don't trust AI. Some AI-as-a-business early adopters are going back to humans. AI is making many public mistakes that get amplified through the news. So, there will be some pushback from we-the-people.

I've used AI. It has been a useful tool on more than one occasion. There are things I trust it to get right (but verify) and things I can do with it. I don't trust the answers it gives to many things -- but it is pretty good at complex mathematics and can even explain the theories behind the math. A good example is asking it to explain 'Bell's Theorem', which it does nicely.

But I don't trust it for a lot of things. I don't think it's malicious; I just think it's too early for it to provide good answers for that subject. A good example was 'How many rocks should I eat per day?'

Check with your dentist.....

One of the things I have done that makes me happy is that I've maintained diligent oral hygiene.

I was in like third grade when some dentist came in to speak to the class. He stressed that we only have one set of adult teeth. (Back then, poor dentistry was quite common. (For example, in just the US Army, during the Vietnam War, roughly 18:100 enlisted soldiers had an 'emergency dental' intervention. In the US, during WWII, almost every person who enlisted needed dental care.) It was this lack of dental care that did things like prompt the schools to bring in a dentist to speak to us.

I took that to heart. So, I have pretty much perfect teeth. Even as old as I am, they're pretty much perfect. There's a slight deformation in a molar. It's so small that you'd have to compare it to the other side to notice it.

I see the dentist every six months to get my teeth cleaned and whitened. They are unnaturally white, in reality. I just like them to shine. Just the regular cleaning would be enough, but I still get them whitened. Many people my age have dental issues. They should have listened to the dentist who visited them in 3rd grade. Then, they'd know that they only get one set of adult teeth.
