Hi everyone, I've tried Linux before, but this is my first time trying Bazzite. The problem is I want to install TLauncher, but it won't let me because it downloads as a .deb file, and the other version is a .jar file. I want to try this distro so I don't have to switch to Mint, which does let me install the launcher.

And since I don't know much English, I used a translator to write this.

If the above does not work, there is also a package known as alien,

Code:
sudo dnf install alien

#then use the command

sudo alien -r package.deb

Hope this helps.

My particular recommendation is to create a distrobox of debian or ubuntu (whichever the packager targeted) and install the package inside. Once done, you can export the binary or the UI application with distrobox-export.

Anyway you will need it because bazzite is an atomic distribution based on rpm-ostree, meaning that you can't install any foreign package on it. There's no dnf to run.

Last time I used bazzite, distrobox was installed by default. Check the project documentation for how-to and recipes!

Distrobox isn't the easiest to use for those who have never used it, especially a new to Linux user.

The thing is that while you may be able to layer alien on it using rpm-ostree, later on alien will fail to install the deb. So in this case really the only way forward is to use a container, and the easiest way in is to use the distrobox wrapper.
