At Helen Murray's home in Silverton in far west New South Wales, where temperatures often push past 30 degrees Celsius in summer, figuring out what will grow is often a jigsaw puzzle of trial and error.

For the uninitiated, Silverton is around a 20 minute drive from Broken Hill.
Don't know where Broken Hill is?....it's often referred to as being 'out the back of buggery' ...in Kilometres?...approx 1200 Km north west of Sydney. (750 miles) population Broken Hill, approx 18000
Broken Hill receives an average annual rainfall of approximately 224 mm (8.8 inches), with the wettest month typically being February. The region experiences a dry climate with very little precipitation throughout the year.
At this present moment, Broken Hill is surrounded by floodwaters. Go figure.

Yeah, I know. This doesnt directly show Australia. It covers an extremely broad spectrum of our world.

meanwhile back in Australia, the hostilities overseas are affecting all sorts of people from all walks of life, in any country you care to name.

I'd love to really comment on the above @Condobloke post. Alas, it would go against our 'no politics' rule and would run afoul of my own posting guidelines.
I'll simply say that it's not easy to be an eternal optimist and that none of this is my fault. Is it political if I say that I'm sorry for what my country does? That sounds more sociological than political, though it could be interpreted as political. If it does reek of politics, I'll happily clean it up.
But, yeah, I'd love to leave a giant wall of text as a reply. I'll be just fine, but that doesn't mean I don't have empathy.

I have a worrisome feeling, that a great number of farmers out here are doing just that. But..., they are not relaxed.
They can see their livelihood going down the gurgler.

It's not worth going into the details. I'll simply state that I'm financially invested in multiple distinctly agrocultural organizations.
We'll be fine, assuming there's a rational conclusion to this unspoken mess. We're in a position where we can weather some downtime, but no business can absorb infinite losses. That and, well, my total income is not a single-source income. I have invested broadly, and I've invested locally. So, we'll be okay.
Which leads to me once again mentioning empathy. That's a trait lacking in many people, and it can be a trait that's hard to maintain when you yourself are having serious financial problems.
As is sometimes said, it's easy to be a philanthropist when you have both time and money.
I think I'll take you up on that idea.
I just so happen to have some of OPB's Nut Brown Ale. It's from a brewery that's 'just down the road' from where I live. (Sure, that's an hour's drive from here, but we measure stuff differently out here,)
It's not quite the same as it is for some of your people. Some of those folks are a lot more remote than I am. Depending on the weather, I can be in a village of 1,200 people with a 30 minute drive. So, no, it's definitely not as remote as some folks in Australia.

Just a little more about Pro Hart...he may have appeared to be a bit of a roughy, but he was no slouch. A talented man, and recognised as such by Kings and Queens, Presidents and the common man all over the world.
Bob Ross was an interesting character and a very private person.
I suspect he's more popular in death than he was while he was alive. After all, he's quite the meme at this point. Plus, you know, he was on PBS. That's not really a widely watched TV channel, unless you lived in an area where you only got three channels.
(I liked some PBS content. But I prefer to learn rather than to be entertained, but bonus points if you can do both.)
That said, he's more of a US-ian entity. The web has made him more popular, but not universally so.
He also doesn't really have anything to do with the thread, but here we are.
But I recently saw one of those 25 to 30 minute YouTube videos that have 3 minutes of sponsorship built in (though I deal with that and I also block the ads) on Ross' life and career. He led a pretty interesting life. Like many who reach the public eye, it involved a few important coincidences. His quiet demeanor had little to do with his prior life, where he was in charge of yelling at people in the USAF.

I have always been intrigued by Australia. Opposite side of the world from me. opposite season cycle, when it's winter here it's summer there. All the wildlife and beaches. Seems so cool. Although, being in North America, I have spent some time in hospitals due to spider and snake bites an stuff. Even this weird caterpillar that got me, that made my arm swell up like a balloon. I trample a lot in bushy areas and camping.
I read about all the poisonous hazards that are so much worse than we have here with wildlife. With my track record, I think just staying fascinated is bestest
Although I think I have developed a somewhat resistance to snake venom from the rattler variety.
