Printer stopped working from a software up date Debian last few days

If you can get into the raspberry pi forum with their stupid moron picture CAPTCHA picture you might see the same question, It is getting to the stage I am getting so sick of all the raspberry pi suffering.

I just thought for onece I would go to the forum with a cool mind and ask a simple question about the printer issue that happened over the last couple of days from a update, and did I get it wrong

I don't have a PI but check your print drivers
I say this because in the last week we have had another member using a Debian derivative and I did a fresh installation of another, we both had the same problem, the machine installed HP drivers not the relevant ones for our printers

I am not sure what is more stressful the issues with Raspberry Pi or logging on to these forums. with the CAPTCHA picture
But anyway it is the new Debian trixie on Raspberry Pi 5. I have to look at some other option.

OK I removed both printer options, one of which I never installed, the added in the printer I have again and got a page printing working,
I am not sure where to go now with this XXXXXXXX Debain, I just moved to new place, I was hoping for some rest, and catch up.

Eric, all participants in this thread are aged 68 to 77, so we can well appreciate what you mean there.

I am an ignoramus on Pi's, but if I can suggest for future, if the Pi can hook into external storage and you have the space, whether you stick with Debian or not, all distros can have Timeshift installed on them, and a system snapshot taken before updates. Then you can roll back to when the printer worked while you and we nut out the issue. It's a good investment in time(shift...very droll).

Good luck with the new place and don't forget to let the Pi forum know if your problem is solved - if you can get past identifying bikes, cars and traffic lights.

My fellow forum members seem to have overlooked this, and if I'm reading this correctly...

It's generally bad form, bad forum etiquette, to post the same question on multiple forums. We have no way of knowing what they've suggested, nor any idea what you'll have already tried. This is viewed as a potential time-wasting exercise.

This posting totally backfired and effectively blow up in my face it was all because of the stupid CAPTCHA the other forum used, I wish now I had of taken a screen shot, but I could not believe most CAPTCHA are straight forward, like "click the square that contain parts of a motorcycle", or "click the square that show a staircase" this CAPTCHA looked as if it was put together as if someone was on drugs or something, it was completely abnormal and you people would not have to have a poke at me if it was not a standard everyday CAPTCHA, it is hard to be normal in a abnormal system please I am sick to death of CAPTCHA I do not need anymore people poking fun at me, for something I blame on a faulty update, and I wanted to bring to the attention to the other forum, it has just about changed my direction what I think of Linux now. Please let it go, it is the CAPTCHA that unhinged me

Also, don't be too concerned with my other comment. It's just bad form. You obviously didn't know that. Now you know that. No moderator actions were taken; you were just made aware of the convention. No harm, no foul.

Back to CAPTCHA...

They suck. At the same time, they're effective. They don't need to be as difficult as what you're describing, but they are quite useful -- for now.

The big thing about the CAPTCHA is what it's meant to do. It's meant to prove that you're a human and not a computer.

We have rapidly progressing 'AI'. At some point, that AI is going to be useful for solving CAPTCHA requests. If that happens, I don't know what will happen -- but it may mean sites stop bothering with CAPTCHA as a defense mechanism.

CAPTCHA is especially useful if you're also behind a CDN. As a site owner, you're pretty much forced to use some level of protection. If you accept UGC (User Generated Content), you definitely need protection. Allowing UGC opens you up to a whole lot of abuse. You'll be inundated with spam in no time at all.

We sometimes have Cloudflare configured to show a waiting page, and that may sometimes require a CAPTCHA to move forward. It cleans up a lot of the junk traffic and cleans up a bunch of the abusive traffic.

Not a fan of the problematic captcha deal either. It's not efficient as far as I can tell.
It's hindered my progress many times so I understand how you feel Eric.

I was suspicious as our moderator was of the driver not loading or the wrong driver loading first to cause your printer to stop working.
I've been over this 10 plus times with the HP drivers and printers so I gave the machine away.
