I am using Linux Mint 22.1 Cinnamon.
The O/s is installed on a 1TB SSD M.2 .
I have a Second SSD 4TB M.2 .
I would like to Save all my Movies in the 4TB SSD, in a folder Named Movies.
How do I tell the O/S to Use the Movies Folder as the Default Location for Videos and Movies.
Which File System should I use for the 4TB SSD, ie: ext4, NTFS or What.
I would like to be able to Play my Movies from my Smart TV and Other Windows Computers on my network, using Plex.
When I install Plex do I just have to tell plex Where I have My Library, and not worry about telling the O/S to change the default location of Videos.????.
I had a Brief look at Plex yesterday but I couldn't Find the Movies Folder on the 4TB Drive, infact Plex couldn't even See it.???.
Any help would be appreciated.

G'day sparks79, Welcome to Linux.org

Where are your movies kept at this time ? On the 1TB or elsewhere

and, what do you use to download fresh movies etc with; I use qbittorrent.....and I can name the path to the place for the tv shows etc to be saved on an external drive

Somebody using Mint should tell you exact steps, if Mint supports changing this.

It doesn't matter for plex from what I researched, but you should use ext4 if the drive is managed from Linux

Here is what I suggest reading:

@Condobloke :-

I've used Tixati for years, Brian. I used to use Transmission, originally....but several consecutive releases were full of bugs that wouldn't allow the use of magnet links, and by the time they eventually sorted this out, I'd become very comfortable with Tixati.

I use the 'portable' version, 'cos you can stick it on a flash-drive & use it anywhere; it contains both Linux AND Windows binaries, so it's happily cross-platform. Most folks run Windows, so there's no point 'spoiling the ship for a ha'porth of tar', as the saying goes!

Makes it more versatile....and this way, it'll work pretty much anywhere.

It saves downloaded movies, etc, in its own dedicated, self-contained download directory. For that reason, it NEEDS to sit on a fairly large flash-drive, with plenty of free space. For full versatility, it's best if this is formatted to either NTFS or exFAT; Linux is happy either way, but Whinedoze gets very confused with Linux file-formats. Me, I always think it's 'cos it's embarrassed by how crap NTFS is compared to Ext2/3/4... :P

Tixati will let you name an alternate $PATH for saving downloads, but I just tend to link my Pups to the internal download directory of my 'permanent' system install of Tixati-portable. What can I say; I'm a lazy bugger..!

Thanks to all for your help, your suggestions have been Read and just at present, nothing is helping.
At present I am having two Problems.
Plex Refuses to See My Movie Folder, which is on D: Drive ( 4TB )and is Ext4.
My Movie Data Base is 2.4TB and for that I have installed this new 4TB SSD.
These Movies will not fit on the O/S Drive because it is only 1TB.
So I need to tell the O/S that I have included a New Movie Folder on a New SSD at Drive D:.
Could Someone tell me How to do that.
CHEERS, John

Sorry to mislead you there, I see you are right, there is no D:\ Drive.
It is Listed under Devices as DataDrive, with a Folder on it called Movies.
In Nemo that Drive is already mounted apparently because I can just click on it and go straight to the movie folder.???
The Problem is with Plex , it won't let me Map it in as a Library Folder . Infact Plex Can't even See my DataDrive or Movie Folder.
So I'm thinking my problem is either with The Operating System Not Knowing that I have now made a New Location for My Videos.
And maybe this is stopping Plex from seeing my Movies Folder.???.
Help Please

That's easy...copy and paste.

My DVD movies are copied and converted to MPEG-4 with Handbrake...then I copy and paste them to my External HDD...(format doesn't matter) to my Movies folder.

To watch them on my TV...I have a portable SSD which is formatted to FAT32 because the TV only reads that. I just copy and paste to it...simple.

Why do you need a streaming service...when you can do it yourself which is so much better...costs nothing and is problem free.
