Why Do Beginners Have So Much Trouble With Linux Mint.

Again I wasn't talking about this Forum...not all Forums are helpful and friendly to beginners either...I'm sure some of us can relate to that. View attachment 31577

It's human nature...when they're told don't play around with the system as it might cause problems...they do...just like a wet paint sign saying don't touch...they can't help themselves.

That's why I created an image of their system because I knew it was just a matter of time before they said...I wonder what happens if I do this. View attachment 31578

It's painful, but I'd almost encourage them to keep tinkering; but make it explicitly clear to them that they'll have to dedicate time to mastering their Google-Fu lol

Would it be of any surprise if I told you that this literally sums up my entire personality and how the general public tends to digest my presence?

LOL I'm not sure if that's a good thing, but at least you're there for friends and family.

I like to think I'm an eternal optimist, but that's not exactly true. I do like to think that I can be a better person tomorrow than I was today, but that's something I've more or less strived for throughout my life.

This is something I can't understand

It's very simple, Mint is recommended to total newbs who know nothing about Linux, promising them it's a "beginner" distro.
This makes mint attract people who don't know the most basic stuff about computer and consequently ruins the reputation of Mint.

However it's a distro just like any other, if for change people start suggesting something else to beginners telling them it's best for them they would pretty much suffer as well, simply because they know nothing about Linux at all, about computers in fact.

Mint just happens to be noob's distro (confusing it for newb friendly), used mostly by newbs then it's no wonder everybody has problem with it, it's self explanatory isn't?

I am well aware some people can't do a simple thing like create a folder...but that's not Mints fault or any Distro for that matter and no one makes them use Linux either.

Linux requires a little brainpower and the ability to follow simple instructions and some research too.

I learnt how to install windoze XP back in 2002...long before youtube because it cost me a truck load of money for a computer shop to do it....not to mention fixing all the windoze problems.
So when I started looking into Linux in 2012 it was easy and it's even better now and I'm no expert...so why can't everyone else do the same because it's not hard.

Youtube tells people Mint is a beginners Distro not the Linux Mint Team. If beginners ask questions and followed advice before they started doing silly things...then it would be easy but that won't happen.
