I was in the process of using Timeshift when I realised I was getting confused about which drive was which in the list.

Here are the disks that I have installed:

Disk 0: Linux Mint - no name
Disk 1: Windows 11 - named Huon
Disk 2: External Drive - named Derwent

I'm trying to have Timeshift save snapshots to the external drive. But when I look at the Timeshift window I can't tell which disk is which.

Image 1 is from the Timeshift program.
Image 2 is from the Disks program.

How can I ensure I"m saving snapshots to the external drive?

Mike, pretty straightforward.

  1. Close Timeshift, then
  2. Unplug the external drive.
  3. Open Timeshift and check Location, write down a descriptor of entries.
  4. Close Timeshift, then plug in external drive again.
  5. Open Timeshift again and go to Location.
The additional entry is your External Drive.

I gave mine a name in GParted.

Those are labels, Brian. Mike has named two of his drives, after Tassie rivers. :)
