Is it possible to run Devuan with Cinnamon + Xlibre?
Of course, just install task-cinnamon-desktop to pull entire cinnamon, and xlibre is added via a separate apt repository from a developer (I use XLibre that way).

Code:
$ sudo head /var/log/Xorg.0.log
XLibre X Server 1.25.1.5
Code:
$ apt-cache policy
 500 https://xlibre-debian.github.io/devuan main/stable amd64 Packages
     release o=XLibre,n=main,l=XLibre Devuan Packages,c=stable,b=amd64
     origin xlibre-debian.github.io

Cool, keeping this in mind when a new debian cycle begins

Devuan is absolutely great, but I frequently had trouble with the installer. My workaround was to use RefractaOS, which is basically just a wrapper for Devuan, that makes use of the wonderful Refracta installer and tool set.

I disagreed with the installer, though, after telling it where to install Grub and hitting "NEXT," Refracta says,

Code:
You have chosen not to install Grub, Proceed anyway?

No, no noooo! Install Grub! HERE!

Code:
You have chosen not to install Grub, Proceed anyway?

Repeat, repeat, repeat, give up, quit.

So I tried Peppermint as a workaround - just some way to get Devuan installed.

Calamares: Installation failed.

Repeat, repeat, give up, quit.

It was not until Venderfoul Wolf came along, with their own installer "lupinus," that I was able to enjoy Devuan, and that after trying multiple installers that all fell short.

If your system doesn't boot after GRUB install, you can chroot into it using installation USB stick. There, you can force install GRUB again. I did that with Devuan once, because it didn't register a EFI entry in my motherboard booting list. Chrooted, forced grub install again, reboot and it was ok.

Haven't yet. It's available at Distrowatch via regular download, or there are torrents from their site.

There's the Excalibur from 24 January, or one called Viriato from mid-April.

Excalibur uses Calamares, Viriato Refracta.

If I give it a run, I will probably go Xfce.

Found it mate, thanks!

I'll give a spin when I can.

Ran Devuan for 2 years and it was a good experience minus the power outage.

The Distro needs to mature untill I'd actually use it. I tried to install it twice and the installer didn't complete using basic installation steps. When I tried to report a bug, I landed in a non english telegram group. I wouldn't recommend using this distro at this point. Tough I like the Idea behind this Distro
When I can I'll try it.
Been studying how to speak Spanish for a while now....so I may be able to make sense of it.

Thanks for the heads up on the installer's behavior.

I didn't find enough Spanish-language stuff in there to confuse me, just a stubborn "greeting" app that I couldn't remove from the Xfce menu. Maybe it's just a hardware thing for all I know. Well worth a spin.
