I am getting increasingly frustrated with my local PC hardware suppliers. They don't have high end hardware even sitting in their warehouses. "We're gonna have to order it from abroad" they keep saying. They can go pound sand, I can do that too. For the difference in price they would be charging between them ordering abroad and me doing it is such, that just for ordering the CPU abroad alone and literally driving to get it would end up being cheaper than buying one here. And then there is the rest of the components... a 25% upcharge just for the graphics card... utterly criminal!

So I'm gonna have to do the same thing I did a decade ago - order from Germany again!

However my trusted old retailer Hardwareversand has since gone under, and I'm pretty much out of the loop when it comes to knowing which of the vendors are "good" and which aren't.

I know there is quite a few of you on this forum from Germany. I was wondering if you could recommend some well stocked, reliable online PC hardware vendors that ship abroad... I am already familiar with caseking and mindfactory, but other than the fact that they exist, and browsing around a little to see their selection I don't know anything about those two.

It would be okay if you don't know whether they ship abroad or not, I can ask them myself, I am mostly fluent in German, I just want to know if they have a diverse array of components and can be trusted in the unlikely scenario of needing to perform a warranty return.

Thanks for your answers!

I'm not buying high end hardware so don't know, but I'm sure if I wanted to I'd encounter same problem for sure.
There isn't enough "rich" buyers for PC shops to stockpile high end hardware, that's why.
"Rich" has nothing to do with it. I buy once a decade, and end up cheaper that those who go for cheap trash every few years.

Lol, this reminds me of a Jewish saying, "I'm not rich enough to buy cheap"

(because you have to throw it away soon enough and buy new cheap stuff again, in the end costing you more than buying expensive but durable stuff)

Exactly.

I saw your other thread detailing your build plans. It's exciting to plan, and DYI building a PC yourself certainly ensures you can upgrade parts or replace defective ones long-term.

I decided to buy a pre-built PC last time (nothing fancy, standard individual components) and was disappointed they did not even include the extra power cables that come with the quality PSU they used. Even to add a basic slot-in DVD player I had to go hunting for matching cables, which obviously adds to the cost.

Anyway, in my experience it gets tricky for consumer hardware once you need delivery outside the EU. Even the convenience period for the UK is mostly over. Most consumer shops are simply not prepared to deal with extra-EU tax issues, not to mention warranty etc.

What you can do to get an overview is search price-comparison sites. For example, with the geizhals.eu site you can see an indicative area a shop services in the item listings. You can also restrict results of individual items listed to vendors from, e.g. Germany, Poland, Austria, etc. The listings will contain a lot of Amazon dealers too. An alternative price comparison site is a compehensive "preisvergleich" site by heise, a german IT publisher. Obviously, your mileage regarding e.g. accurate inventory varies considerably with the shops.

To which region of our planet are you looking to get it shipped?

Slovenia. So yeah, it will remain within the Eurozone and most of the nonsense will get skipped.

The websites the two of you mentioned are only for prebuilts. I will be building it myself.

you can configure your own PC with MemoryPC. just choose a base system and configure it like you want.
But if you don't like it, I can recommend you
