So, this one is about how to reboot your Linux computer. It's pretty basic and I'm sure most of y'all know this already. But, it wasn't something already on the site and I figured it should be - plus I wanted an easy article to write.


This is absolutely not an exhaustive list. There are all sorts of ways to reboot. This is just a few easy ways.

Feedback makes the articles better, even if it doesn't result in changing the current one.

I have quite a few aliases with reboot in them but there's one particularly useful which I resort to whenever the OS says an application is preventing the rebooting. When that happens I use this alias:

alias rforce="sudo systemctl reboot -i"

"rforce" stands for "reboot force".
