Now, everyone here is attentive and deliberate. You know what file system type you used when you installed your OS and you know what you used when you formatted that external drive.

As such, this article is of no use to you. You know if you're using ZFS or ext4, or whatever...

But, for those that don't know, you can find out all sorts of easily. That's what this article covers.


As pretty much always, there are other ways to get this information. I just picked a couple of ways and shared those. It's a brief article. It's an easy article.
 


Also, you could use mount, which will show disk designation, where it's mounted, filesystem in use, & options used. ;)
