I see that vim has a pretty big learning curve, yet there are a lot of things that require much fewer keystrokes if you understand how to use it. It has such a wierd methodology compared to pretty much everything else you understand as just a notepad user, that's really the catch with using vim. I personally like the way vim's ability to open multiple files is set up, but if i were to start wanting to use vim it would still take me a while to get comfortable with using the right sequences of commands to make edits.
