The system stops responding

Right what you have just done is purged the capacitors in the BIOS circuit, forcing the bios to re-set itself, after you changed the ram configuration, it may help cure your problems, This is a trick many PC engineers use, but please dont do it too often
Thanks!

Is there the possibility of formatting to solve it? So that I may acquire knowledge.

We never re-format in Linux unless we are installing a new OS [well I certainly dont]

This Insperon is a few years older than yours and has never been a problem, at the end of the day its probably going to be something silly

It work's fine, even though it's an i3.

My HDD is having problems reading the disk. I put another one in and so far everything is fine.

yes. I put an SSD in and everything is fine.
Having a dual core system boot off an hdd with a modern OS was going to be a challenge I guess. We forgot to check smartctl since the ram seemed to be the main problem. Good thinking to exchange for an ssd. Feel free to connect the hdd ans run smartctl -a on the old hdd. Maybe run a test if you want.

I reinserted the memory and there was no error. I did a test on the disk, which said that values other than 0 are disk errors.

And? What were the values? Did the disk have errors?

Having a dual core system boot off an hdd with a modern OS was going to be a challenge I guess. We forgot to check smartctl since the ram seemed to be the main problem. Good thinking to exchange for an ssd. Feel free to connect the hdd ans run smartctl -a on the old hdd. Maybe run a test if you want.
Yes, I installed some Fedora spins and there were no problems. I'm using Mate and everything works.

Hi, I use Fedora 39. The system stops responding all the time, just running office makes it crash, I open gimp and it stops responding.
Creating a swap partition helped a lot.

I did a test on the disk, which said that values other than 0 are disk errors.
Even if HDD has no error and has enough disk space it's still not an indication that everything is OK.
You also need to check if the file system has not run out of inodes.

To check this run:

sudo df -i

But I guess you already reformatted it?

Yes, and the hdd was "moved to trash".

Did you run memtest. Also check dmesg for errors. Finally check temp.
I don't know why would you reformat disk?
As long as disk type is compatible with the kernel and your system there is no such thing as cpu/hdd incompatibility.
Disk errors are easy to check so if you do not suffer data loss forget about disk issues.
