I use Qbittorrent. Because you are downloading an .iso file, there is no need for a vpn.

Qbittorrent is available from their website and also from Linux Mint Software Manager.

The iso will be saved to your downloads folder. The inbuilt ability of qbittorrent to check that a file is what it says it is, and to also check that it has not been tampered with, is real and can be depended on.

I have used the method for many years. No failures

Even if you never use Qbittorrent again, it will save you a headache now. The link below shows an explanation of how to use it.
The single click I mention there, downloads a tiny file to your desktop. That tiny file is then dragged into the middle of the opened qbittorrent page and dropped there. It will start to download the iso automatically.

Downloading Mint as a torrent is much faster than downloading the normal way.
