First of all... Sorry for the delay.

Many, many thanks to all of you for your valuable contribution to my question.
I am now writing this reply from my linux installation (Ubuntu). Thanks to all of you.
Chose a regular HDD instead of a SSD to be on the safer side. I need to get a more detailed knowledge on hardware front to be able to manually install the OS.

Anyway, I obtained a copy of - The Linux Command Line (linuxcommand.org) and Linux in a Nutshell from Oreily. Downloaded the TLDP documentation of bash scripting, got them printed and bound. Its heavy but it seems to be worth the expense.

Any suggestions on becoming better in Linux?
