Unprivileged attackers can get root access on multiple major Linux distributions in default configurations by exploiting a newly disclosed local privilege escalation (LPE) vulnerability in the GNU C Library (glibc).

We use a process considered 'responsible disclosure', wherein security problems are reported in private and the project given time to fix the problem. After that, the security issues are disclosed - ideally. If the issues aren't fixed, they'll (maybe) opt to disclose the security issues to the public.

So, this is normal. It should be fixed by the time you hear of a security flaw.
