I meant the plug-in connections on the motherboard, drives, and accessories. Even the RAM.
I checked everything inside and out. Plugs, fans, wires, motherboard, GPU, RAM, USB ports, HDMI, Display port connections,

I built the PC I had before this one, I'm familiar with what it should look like

First, have you checked your CPU core usage percent? Was I clear when I wrote that?

@Condobloke started helping my with checking my disk health. I want to finish that before testing other components

Thank you!
:)

Do I need one? I thought I didn't.

I'll read some more.
I remember things working out better with Rufus when I made the thumb drive for LM 21.2

need a usb stick?.....yes

The instructions above are good

I also have what's called 'chemo brain'. I recently finished four months of intense chemotherapy. My brain is a little foggy. Sometimes it takes me a little longer to process information. Other times I get overwhelmed and confused. Sometimes I just have to take a step back, put my project down for a bit.

Alright!

I have a clear understanding of how to proceed! Shutting down PC now. I will sign in again from the LM live desktop.

.... If you hear a very loud BOOM from somewhere on eastern US coast... Something went wrong!

@Condobloke

I'm using my crappy laptop to write this post

The short test says "Completed without error". It finished very quickly.

I'm also running the extended self test. The estimated duration of the test is 4 hours. Didn't you say it took around 2minutes on your machine? Could mine take longer because it's an HDD, not an SSD?

I'm going to take some pictures with my phone. I'll upload them shortly

@Condobloke

Posting from my phone now...

When I initially started the extended self test I got an error message.

"Cannot run Extended Self-test.
Sending command failed".

I clicked 'okay'.
After I clicked on 'close' I got message that there is a text in progress. I didn't abort the test. It is continuing now.

I just checked on line to find out how long the extended self test takes.
Up to several hours.
I'm hoping that maybe I clicked 'execute' more than once and that is the reason for error.

lol....dont watch.

Worse than watching paint dry ?

I think you are correct about the time taken. Being a hdd makes a difference....a big one

I clicked on a second ssd I have yesterday...and it told me two minutes for the extended

I just clicked on a small 2TB drive (hdd) I have for Timeshift etc etc etc and it told me 5hr 44min

At least it will be thorough.
