Why is Mint restricting my 500 Mbps down to 3.35 Mbps. This OS is very aggravating. I don't like it at all! , I would go back to Windows 11 if I could. At least in Windows it installs faster and I can install software faster. It takes me hours to install any linux.

If you're not downloading anything why it would go any further than this?

More details about what you're doing and more info about your system too:
Bash:
sudo inxi -remzax
I'm getting unsupported option on -remzax, ran -h and didn't see a close match.

unsupported option
My inxi is 1 year old, is your older than that?

Bash:
inxi --version

inxi 3.3.38-00 (2025-04-06)

Try running each option separately to figure out which one is unsupported, e.g.:
Bash:
inxi -r
inxi -e
inxi -m
# etc.

All options are documented in man inxi here.

Unless you found some way to tweak your throughput with something like wondershaper (which I have had to do in the past), there's no real mechanism for Linux to just arbitrarily change your bandwidth.

When it comes to bandwidth, Linux is like a fat kid at a buffet. It'll eat everything it can.

Also, as for inxi, it can be confusing.

If you go to their GitHub page, the project was archived more than two years ago.

I believe the current development is being done here:

The defunct would be here:

(Which, as you'll see, is dead and gone.)

I say have a nice time and please go back to windows. Making "threats" to go back to windows will not win you points here and will not get better service. All you will get is comments like "have fun and go back".

because that is what I am paying for, you don't know much do you.

I didn't get a payment. did any of the rest of you? I think this person needs a censure.

I also need a way of getting rid of that aggravating password entry every time I want to install something. It is very unbelievably aggravating. Just one of the many things that I don't like Linux! Mint messed up my hd and now I cannot install windows 10. At least in Windows 10 I know what to expect and what I can do. My back is hurting again. I will be back tomorrow and maybe there l will be less pain.

You're not paying for anything here, everyone here volunteers their time freely here. Please turn it down a notch. Thanks!

That's because you Windows was familiar to you and Linux isn't, with time it will grow on you if you get passed the learning curve.

please explain how linux "messed up" your drive. You can always delete the partitions and install windows 10 or 11 which I strongly suggest you do. Bless your heart that you just don't posses the personal requirements for linux. I am sure that windows will suit you far better for your use case and is truly the best solution for you.

This and if you don't want to invest the time to get passed to learning curve of learning a new os, than it's fine to just use Windows. But seems more you are treating going from Windows to Linux expecting that Linux Mint should be a drop-in replacement for Windows which is never the case when getting into something new.

I don't have an inxi

@Mathman54, depending on where you are located, there may be a Linux User group available.

Where do you live......not your full address, just the town name or city.

Linux User Groups provide help in setting up Linux, but they are not everywhere.

You're paying for bandwidth, you're NOT paying your ISP to utilize it on your behalf, to utilize it start downloading something.
If you can reach 500 Mbit/s while downloading then there's nothing to troubleshoot.

As it stands now there is no network problem but misunderstanding on bandwidth utilization.
