I noticed that the recently deleted member had a number, so I was wondering if all members have a number and if so, whether members are able to access the number. It would make sense that each member was allocated a number for a few reasons related to management of the forum, but I guess it mightn't make any difference for the member. Just wondering :-) .

I think it may be 'random'. I've never checked.

You do have a number, however. See: https://www.linux.org/members/osprey.139379/

So, maybe it's that number. I'll try to remember to check the next time I delete an account and tell it to change the username.

@osprey
We're all just a number whether on this forums or anywhere else on this planet. :p
Where ever one turns there is some sort of "ID" that identifies you such as health insurance ID when visiting a doctor.
We're being called by name but people are just numbers.

"They" even call us "human resource", see we're aren't even people any more, now were are resource and you know, resources are expendable.

For some reason I envisioned Agent 47 from the "Hitman" video games and the bar-code on the back of his grape when I read this post lol.

I wonder if I drew a lucky number!

If a Member leaves us for their own reasons but on good terms, I always leave their userid intact, so they can get recognition for their contributions and helping efforts, unless they specifically ask me to remove their userid.

It also makes it easy to reinstate them, should they choose to return.

David G and Rob make their own choices as they see fit.

If a Deleted Member number is assigned, it does not remove their previous content, and if their userid appears in a quoted context or reply, it remains intact.

Cheers
