As most will know a little about this topic by now I thought now would be the right time to add some independent impartial – Er, in fact he lists….

LXQt is very light, after I compare it with XFCE on linux mint. Therefore, Lubuntu became my favorite distro for old laptops.

So hardly impartial, just like on……

Anyway here is the link…

From the results, I got that AntiX is very lighter than Lubuntu. You can try it now.

I hope this Lubuntu vs Antix RAM article was useful to you and made your day.

Well I knew this already but thanks to you for being honest and impartial in your testing. In fact the situation is much greater than may be deduced here….

You would not believe how Lubuntu try to mitigate out of control RAM usage…! Lubuntu can allegedly get into difficulties with 4GiB machines that would be of no trouble at all with my 3GiB laptop with Antix-22 Full LXDE setup. That Loc-OS distro would have no trouble either :)

picture shows my old setup using 7% of 8GiB of RAM = 560MiB or about the same as other distros at idle... Enjoy :)

Was surprised to find this here as I visit this website quite often on security issues...

We tested all the Ubuntu remixes for resource usage so you don't have to..

It is so cool to have highly respected independent confirmation that I am in a class of my own with LXDE-22 Full LXDE at about 160MiB or less than 100MiB used with just Ffox browser LO Office plus the usual essentials.

Lubuntu uses more than double the resource of my LXDE-22 Full LXDE setup – no wonder I’m getting so much grief
