REALLY, REALLY Slow start up. What to do???

I am researching this issue, but I am not at all comfortable trying to solve this on my own. There is too much I don't know or understand at this point in my Linux journey.

I will post links to information I find on the net.

This is the last post in that thread.

I used Gsmartcontrol to check the health of my HDD. It is fine. Logs are in the thread mentioned above.

I am trying to install LM 22.1

This exactly what I did.

*** Gsmartcontrol was installed on the Live LM 22.1 desktop to check the HDD. It was still there when I began installing LM 22.1 from the live desktop.

• Clicked on installation files "Install Linux"
• This is being added after initially posting this thread. I was installing LM 22.1 OVER LM 21.3
• Went through usual stuff , time zone, password...
• I opted to install media codex
• Then I got a message "executing grub install failed
• 

• I exited out of the installatio and started over. It didn't work.
• I decided to start over completely
• I left the boot drive plugged in and restarted my computer
• I was directed to remove the installion files
• I got this

• I See this when I press tab

I cannot get into UEFI
I get the same message no matter what I do with or without a thumb drive.
I also tried to use the old thumb drive with with Linux Mint 21.2. Same results.

OMG! I AM LEARNING SO MUCH!!!

I forgot to mention the reason I was trying to get into UEFI is because I changed the boot order to the USB drive. I thought maybe LM may have tried a perpetual install on that drive instead of the Toshiba 2 TB drive.

Go into bios and look to see if secure boot is turned Off.....if it is On...turn it off

Same with fastboot if you can find it

If that produces no joy, boot into the Live version, menu, Boot Repair, open that and follow the basic steps through to repair boot

This from my notes:
Boot the pc to that usb stick. Then look for 'Boot Repair' in the menu... Open it....just click through...the latest version is not important It will scan...may take a few minutes
Click 'no' if it offers to modify the mount point of any EXTRA drive/s you have installed. You only want to fix the boot for the drive your OS is installed on.
It will scan again.
It will then come to a smallish screen saying :
Repair the boot of the computer
Click on recommended repair
It will do its thing automatically

Anything on screen, after it has finished the repair is window dressing....it is unnecessary to write stuff down etc etc etc
Just REBOOT. Allow the pc to do its normal boot up routine boot to the usb again and attempt the Install Linux Mint again

I can't get past the the message 'GNU GRUB version 2.06'

Just entered the code 'ls' to list the drive in my pc. I will post those in a few minutes. I'm having to jump between my phone, tower and laptop to do all of this!

So those are partitions! But I don't know which one has LM. I'm trying to enter this to find out which one it's on, but I'm having trouble. I don't know if it's formatting??

I either misread or mistyped. I'm still very new to Linux. I always include a screen shot or copy and paste what I'm looking at to avoid confusion.

In this case I can't do that. I took photographs instead. They are included in the the opening post of this thread.

You get that screen even when you are just booting to the USB stick ?.....so you cannot get a Live version running ?

This is correct. I cannot boot into anything.

For what it's worth and I doubt it will make a difference, I turned off my PC about 30 minutes ago. I'm about to turn it back on...

Yes. I will do that.

Leaving it off for a while did nothing.
