Is "Vansuny" brand any good?

After a disappointing interaction with Geek Squad (I know, no comments please ) I have decided to try replacing a hard drive myself. So while browsing for SSDs I came across the brand Vansuny, which I never heard of before. The cost is significantly less than other known brands. Has anyone on this forum ever heard of them? Or have actually used any of their products? Right now I'm just asking for future reference, as I have already ordered a Crucial and a SanDisk. Vansuny's Amazon user rating is just a few points lower than the rest, so that kind of scared me away from trying it.

That's almost always a bad thing. You'll end up getting a drive that reports a fake size. When you put in more data than it really stores, it starts deleting the older files.

Depending on where you live, you might be able to buy Team Group SSDs. They're legit.

Stick to the recognized names for SSD's Liteon, crucial, Samsung, Etc. off brands may be good may not. you could do a search for reviews but even that can be missleading.

Yeah, and I don't want to be a victim of "you get what you pay for."

With that said, I came across a brand even cheaper, RAOYI, but they have user ratings (on Amazon) that were just as good as recognized name brands. Anyone ever heard of RAOYI?

Nope.

I took a chance on Team Group when they were still fairly new. To date, I've purchased their RAM, SSDs, and thumb drives. I've reached the point where I'm comfortable recommending them, though they're not as inexpensive as they once were. As I recall, at least a couple of folks on this forum have now tried them.

I can't think of any other cheap brand that I'd trust. These days, there are many fake reviews. There used to be a browser extension that pointed out reviews that were probably fake, but they went the way of the dinosaur.

When it comes to SSDs...always buy well know brands...there's no substitute for quality.

I have two 500GB Samsung 870 EVO SSDs and one 500GB Western Digital SSD.

The 500GB Samsung in my Tower is now 7 years old and runs like new...I also have two 1TB Samsung portable SSDs.
I wouldn't buy SSDs smaller than 500GB and don't forget to optimise your SSD to run efficiently...it will run for many years.

Samsung

why?....because they will provide backup/replacement if something goes wrong.

It doesn't matter what computer you have...if it's running a HDD...you can install an SSD. My Towers Drive bays are 3.5"..so I got a few SSD brackets to hold them as SSDs are 2.5".
You can even create an image of your HDD and put in on your new SSD as long as they are the same size.

My 14 year old Laptop came with a 500GB HDD...a few years ago I replaced it with a 500GB SSD.
