Today I downloaded Mint Cinnamon 22.1 twice...one as a torrent and the other from the Aussie link and ran the Mint verify tool on both.

The idea is to match the checksum of the ISO to the checksum from the Mint site...if both match I'm good to go...I got this...

Normal download.
This is the checksum for Mint Cinnamon 22.1...

If I run GtkHash...both ISOs are good...this really makes me wonder is it all worth it.

Why I ask is because when I run it (this from 22.1 itself), I get two windows. First calculates sha256sum and shows as this

I then click Verify again and get this

Which Mint were you running it from, Bob?

I'm running Cinnamon 21.1 at the moment...I go between 21.1 and 22.1 but it shouldn't matter as long as the checksums match which they do in GtkHash and they also match in the Terminal...

I won't be using the Mint verify tool again...I recommend people use either GtkHash or the Terminal.

That's cool, I have a Vera Cinnamon onboard, I may go and check with it.

I'm now running Cinnamon 22.1...I copied the ISO from 21.1 to an External HDD and pasted it to the Desktop of Cinnamon 22.1 and ran the Cinnamon verify tool and got this...

It's the same ISO...how could it get different results from one version to another...after all we're looking for the checksum to match which it does.

GtkHash says it's the same also...as a matter of fact GtkHash says it's the same in both versions of Cinnamon...it just goes to show the Mint verify tool isn't reliable and there are better choices.

We're on the same timezone (for now), and I am curious, too - so I'll check tomorrow and report back.

Off to feed my face... Nite :)

Bob, ran the tests on my Linux Mint 21.1 'Vera' Cinnamon, results still good as I reflected in my #3.

I cannot account for the discrepancy between my results and yours.
