Hey there!

So I'm still new to linux. I'm running Endeavour OS after getting really frustrated with Arch. I purchased a 2-year VPN plan at PureVPN because they were having a sale. Turns out they don't have a GUI for Linux.

So I went searching and found this:
Universal VPN Cient

Now I've been good about trying things out. Testing, poking and prodding on the internet. But this one I am completely stumped. I stumbled in the world of Dockers and I have absolutely no clue what I'm doing. Nothing is working. All that I read is conflicting and I'm tired of this process. When that happens I know I should post.

If anyone could give me a rundown of what I should be doing to install this Client I'd really appreciate it.

It's all a learning process for me these past few months so sorry if this request seems droll.

Best

Just go with whatever you want.

The PureVPN Linux client is a terminal client - but it looks drop-dead simple.

They may also have a browser extension - which is mostly how I use NordVPN.

When KAPE bought PIA I considered switching to Nord, but ended up on ExpressVPN. But PIA has been able to maintain its independence. Ironically, KAPE recently bought ExpressVPN as well. For close to $1B.

I'd put EVPN, PIA and Nord all solidly in the top 5 best VPNs. I also use Express as a browser extension. PIA's GUI is glitchy.

I stick with it mostly out of habit. I've used it this long, I might as well keep using it. I use it as a browser extension only, as a general rule. It's always enabled in my browser, but I really only use it to get consistent content, to view a couple of sites, and sometimes to blend into regular traffic.

I don't really think of it (as I use it) anything that's helping security, just convenience. I really don't care if most sites know my IP address easily.

Nord using Wireguard, but like ProtonVPN they have a workaround for the privacy concern. I wouldn't hesitate to use Nord if I was just now looking for a VPN solution.

They seem pretty solid. I've used them for years and they don't have a lot of outages. Sometimes the browser extension can be a little buggy, but that's usually easily resolved.
