I am not sure if they were bigger, but there's a grove in Florida that has selectively bred for size and juiciness. They're significantly larger than what you'd get in a grocery store and are seedless. They're the size of a good-sized grapefruit.
I have no idea if they were bigger than the one in your picture, but they were delicious.
