Hi guys, I have multiple Virtual Machines running multiple Linux Distros and I have noticed that in all distros I upgraded to kernel 6.x they all showed audio fro online videos not working properly, it sounds like if somebody keeps pressing pause and play over and over again, if so, can anybody fix this? thanks

G'day jfha73, Welcome to Linux.org

Kernel 6. ?.....6.8 ....6.11......6.14

Any particular distros?

I may not have the answer, but perhaps we can find a bit more info for someone better versed in VM's and their antics, than me.

How much memory is allocated to the VM's ?

I'm on Ubuntu Studio 24.04, running kernel 6.14.0-37 - everything seems to be working fine here.

If I work on any large, hi-res videos from my 4k video camera, sometimes things are a bit jumpy in the video editing software. But that's because I'm using an old laptop with a built-in monitor that isn't HD and has a crappy graphics card, so the video has to be scaled down on the fly and is just performing terribly. But that's not a kernel problem, that's my hardware being old and crappy.

But playback of any downloaded videos I have, at more normal resolutions are absolutely fine.

EDIT:
Just re-read your post and realised you're running VMs. So maybe it's a VM specific thing. But it's not happening for me on bare metal!

You might have issues with your VM configurations. Videos and audio work fine for me, both in VMs and bare metal installations.
