Yes. It's always good practice to do and usually I do but laptops are a pain to get into. My PC is easy because I have all my drives exposed.Probably a bit late to suggest this now....but.....if there is a next time, unmount/turn off/detach the 2TB while you do the install......so Debian does not have the option to be 'rude'
