Since doing an overhaul to the homelab and effectively bringing it up to near Tier 2 status; I'm looking into home security options. I've been eyeballing Amcrets Outdoor Dome Turrets and seeking FOSS interface options. It seems Frigate is well regarded as being one of the top most favored alongside Zoneminder.

I'd really like to hear any testimonials from anyone actively using Frigate for their home security setups within their homelab builds.

My intention is to set up a dedicated VM specifically to play hall monitor on the property. I live directly across the street from my towns only gas station and I have some crack head neighbors so that's why I'm looking at this particular configuration as it'll enable me to use AI to cut through a vast majority of the noise inevitable from the across the street activities. I need something smarter than just basic motion detection.

Shout out to Rob for this Homelab section. Thank ya!

I just wanted to update this to inform any who may be reading that I'm quite happy with Frigate NVR. This system was very easy to deploy and worked seamlessly with my Amcrest cameras.

I've read articles on people complaining about it's complexity but I'm not really seeing it. I was able to add my cameras using the GUI before I even realized there was an advanced playground for configuring things manually (which is always better imho anyway); which I then used to fine tune.

I found it easy to configure AI object detection, alerts are working primo and the export function is awesome.
