"Over the past decade, progress in these fields made resurrecting extinct animals to be no longer a fiction. Now, biologists have assured that the first woolly mammoth calves will be born in 2028, marking the much-anticipated comeback of the long-extinct giant tusked mammal, according to reports earlier this week.

According to Colossal Biosciences, a genetics and biosciences company, its landmark woolly mammoth de-extinction project will pave the way for the resurrection of "Earth's old friend and new hero." This second generation of mammoths to be born from the project would still possess the core biological traits of the cold-resistant elephants, according to the company's website, which also provides a timeline of the de-extinction initiative."

"The first mammoth births in 2028 is a highly-anticipated monumental event concerning conservation and the field of science itself, according to an article by Colossal's CEO and co-founder, Ben Lamm, and head of biological sciences, Eriona Hysolli, on Thursday, February 8. The company's team is also reportedly working on the potential resurrection of the Tasmanian tiger and dodo in the future."

I expected the first link to come from some tabloid, but it isn't. I selected a few more articles to read, about things like climate change, and they seem to be doing legitimate science reporting.

The reason I looked is that this claim has been made many times, and it never happens.

That doesn't mean it won't happen. It just means that it has not happened yet.

Also, I noticed you're using Frog Find. They like to block newer computers (rightfully so), so are you using some older device?

I spent an hour or so looking up what else they were doing. I forgot that I had come across this company over a year ago as they had already done this with dire wolves. The dire wolves are around a year old in the following video posted a few months ago (hope it isn't AI):

I'm using a 2012/2013 Acer Chromebook, however, I did not know they blocked newer devices. Why would they block them? The website has worked on all my devices (they are refurbished but not as old as my Chromebook). I posted using Frog Find because I figured it would be safer (less threat of malware and things like that) since all your getting is the article and nothing else.

They're not doing so right now. I don't know why they've changed.

The search engine Frog Find is meant for older computers. It's the pet project of Action Retro, a YouTuber. They normally block modern computers because they want the server's limited resources to be used by people who have no other realistic choices for search engines.

Amusingly, I just linked to Frog Find a handful of days ago.

As far as safety goes, modern browsers run in their own sandbox. A compromise is possible, but it's also unlikely. If you are really concerned, consider blocking ads and blocking unnecessary scripts. I don't know what browser you're using, but Raymond Gorhill has great ad blocking extensions. Then, there's No Script. That'll take some getting used to, but over time you'll barely notice it.

If you do those things, you're pretty much immune to any exploits out there.

Ok good to know as I use uBlock on any browser I use. I have No Script on a few browsers I believe.

Also I didn't know this. Good to know as well.

"I'll take 'Catastrophically Bad Ideas' for 500$, Alex".

These creatures went extinct for a reason so who are we to decide to bring them back?
Haven't we learned anything from Jurassic Park?

Agreed but I can't lie I can't wait to see how the Woolly Mammoth turns out. As long as they produce a healthy creature that doesn't end up suffering due to defects. Personally I don't think they will be allowed to release anything into the wild. It could upset the balance of the ecosystem where they are released.

Yeah there will be a plethora of issues attached reintroducing those into the wild. Don't think that would happen but still I could see some 'extinction zoos' appearing at one point.

As a kid I thought we'd have flying cars in the year 2000 but things are turning out to be quite different in the end.

Flying cars would be moronic, unless they were automated.

Though the carnage would be epic.

I can't wait until they resurrect T-rexes and Raptors like in Jurassic Park and then also decide to make a hybrid of the two breeds.
